The “thing” I shared

A couple weeks ago, my Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group gathered for its final meeting of the year. Moms shared their favorite thing during the meeting.

Lots of fun things were shared at the meeting. I heard it was exciting, but wasn’t able to attend due to a meeting in connection with my graphic design classes. Instead, I received a goody bag later filled with items from my table mates.

I fretted over the favorite thing to share. Just one item? My choices were narrowed down to a sweet treat, a picture book or office supplies. Due to time and delivery methods, I created the above item. A bag filled with Post-it notepads, postage stamps, blank note cards, a pencil and a note in each bag.

I received fun favorites from the ladies at my table — popcorn and a Redbox code, a joy jar (decorated jar with blank slips of paper for notes of joy), a photo card, a caramel square, tea, pretzels and a lip balm. I admit — I loved the Nivea lip balm the moment it touched my lips.

I’m thankful I was able to participate in MOPS this year. The leadership offered an assortment of speakers and activities (crafts!) throughout the year. By providing childcare for the meetings, it allowed moms a few hours to rejuvenate. I learned a lot from the speakers, the ladies in the group and the lovely ladies at my Table 3.

What favorite thing would you share?

MOPS sounds lovely! I wish I’d had it when I had toddlers 🙂 Being me, I would share picture books, but everything else you mentioned sounded really great too!

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

I had pictures books, but ended up sharing those as a party gift.

  2. This Kid Reviews Books

Uhhh… My favorite things are the book I am writing and my books on my bookshelf!

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Erik, I bet you have wonderful stories to share with friends.

  3. Janet Smart

I’m not sure what I would share. I’m going to a writing conference this weekend and I’m trying to find something to put on their silent auction table…maybe books. We can never get enough books.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Nope Janet. We never have enough books.

Your bag of goodies made my heart skip. I want your favorite things and the lip balm. I’d add a $5 gift card to Starbucks.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Angie, I really love that lip balm. It’s crazy moist.

  5. Kelley Lynn

I would definitely pass out the post it notes. I could NOT live without them 🙂 haha

May seem very simple, but a fresh, blank pad of paper is one of my favorite things. The goodie bag in the picture looks fab to me!

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Karen, Simple is always the best. I love any type of office supply. Paper. I’m right there with you.

  7. Hannah

I’ve heard good things about MOPS. I should see if there’s a local one here. I would share a small potted plant of basil. There is nothing like fresh tomatoes and basil from the garden in the summer! Mmmm.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Hannah, I recommend MOPS. A pot of basil sounds yummy.

What a fun party idea! Love what you brought. 🙂 I’d probably choose stationary and pens, tea and mugs or bath supplies.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

      August, It all sounds refreshing.

My wife used to belong to MOPS at Saddleback Church. Stamps are always good. They are expensive these days and people appreciate feebies.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Stephen, Yep. Stamps are getting expensive. Very useful though.

  10. Susan Oloier

What a wonderful way to have support from other mothers.
Not very original, but I’d probably share notebook paper. I can’t survive without my to-do lists.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Susan, Notebook paper sounds like a great one. MOPS is very supportive.

  11. Coleen Patrick

A book, Starbucks card, or a movie ticket! All great for someone to get a little “me” time. 🙂

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Coleen, Yep, that all sounds like fun ways for “me” time.

I love what you gave! Your gift is so thoughtful. If it were me I would have given a spiral notebook or pad of paper. I can’t live without them. I wish we had had Mops when my kids were little. I went crazy instead. lol.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Clar, There are so many programs for moms these days – it’s enough to make a Mom crazy. MOPS was a great choice for me and I enjoyed it. Clar I found a ton of spiral notebooks on clearance at Target last fall. I was in school supply heaven.

  13. Patricia T.

What a great opportunity to get together with other Mom’s with out the little ones. Love the idea. I’d probably share picture books. But, I liked your gift idea.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Patricia, I do love picture books.

  14. Lara Schiffbauer

I love office supplies, too! Every time I start a new project, I want to get new notebooks, pens, pencils, etc… I don’t know what I’d share. Lego people, maybe? They’re lots of fun to open.

    1. Stacy S. Jensen

Lara. Lego people sounds like a fun idea.

  15. Romelle Broas

MOPS sounds like a great group. Love the favorite things idea. I think I’ll make one for myself. It would include a Starbucks gift card with chocolate covered strawberries, fluffy slippers and a picture book too.

  16. Susanne Drazic

Hi Stacy! MOPS sounds like a wonderful group. I wish we’d had something like that when my son was younger. Great gift ideas.

Really sounds like a great group. I kind of miss doing things like that! I was ALL OVER IT with my first two. The last two, not so much.
