My contribution is IT WILL BE OK A Gentle Story about Worry and Support by Lisa Katzenberger and Jaclyn Sinquett. Giraffe gets stuck and needs a little help — as we all do from time to time. Here's some Monday History that made me M-A-D! HOW DO YOU SPELL UNFAIR? MacNolia Cox and the National Spelling Bee by Carole Boston Weatherford and Frank Morrison shares the story of young MacNolia who makes her way to the National Spelling Bee. She studies a lot before and after she earns her spot to compete. The reality of competing in this competition sheds light on the racism and segregation of the era — she rode in the back of the bus, couldn't stay in the same hotel as her competitors, and had to walk up the stairs. She wasn't allowed to use the main elevator. It's all shared at ways that children can understand and see the significance of her participation. She misspelled nemesis and when you read the story, you'll understand why that's a big deal. Spring break was busy with Easter, family, and loo

Spring break was busy with Easter, family, and looking for jobs (my part-time job ends in June. Unexpected news, but grateful for the opportunities ahead). Since the guys were on a canoe trip, I took over the kitchen to test a new baking cup. I gave the GF and regular cupcakes to some of my favorite volunteers. I made a trip to the library. I visited The Brown Dog Bookshop in Kennesaw to read BEFORE I LIVED HERE and sign copies. There were a half dozen dog walks mixed in too. I revised three picture book manuscripts too. I missed a few items on my to do list, but that's what I'll be doing this week. #childrensbookauthor
